Four dry reservoirs are being built as part of a flood protection project in the Oder River basin:
- Krosnowice
- Szalejów Górny
- Roztoki Bystrzyckie
- Boboszów
Construction of the Szalejów Górny dry reservoir began at the end of 2018. It is the largest of the four flood control reservoirs being built in the Kłodzko Basin. It is an area that was heavily affected during the floods of the millennium in 1997 and in 1998 and 2011.
The Szalejów Górny reservoir is being built on the Bystrzyca Dusznicka, which is normally a small mountain river. It is located between the villages of Szalejów Dolny and Szalejów Górny.
The maximum capacity of the reservoir will be 9.9 million m3. In turn, the area of the reservoir, at maximum damming, is almost 119 ha
The Szalejów Górny dry reservoir will be automated and the water will be discharged through a system of sumps.
The HydroBIM team, which is working on behalf of Sweco, is tasked with design supervision and the development of a replacement design.
